Spring
And just like that Spring has sprung ...
Welcome to the Spring Term for Reception!
Our learning journey continues with Reception exploring their local area. Our school and our town will be the focus of our geography skills - can you believe we are actually going to be cartographers and draw our own maps! We will be thinking about the community in which we live, the people who are here to help us, about the jobs they do as well as our own aspirations for what we would like to be when we are older.
We will also look to the past to find out how life has changed in our own and other's lifetimes.
We really enjoyed becoming Scientists and this term, we will provide fantastic opportunities to develop our skills. Our investigations and knowledge will focus on looking at materials in the world around us, finding out whether they are natural or man-made or if they freeze or melt - how exciting! Our Forest School adventures will continue and we will begin to look at how the forest changes as the seasons change. We will also look at the Forest as a habitat for woodland wildlife and talk about where other animals and their young might live.
Reception will learn about the Christian faith and why Lent and Easter are important Christian festivals. We may even get to toss a pancake or two!
Little Moons and Little Stars are a creative bunch indeed! Spring will build on our painting and drawing skills from the Autumn term with lots of opportunties for designing, making, crafting and building! We can't wait to put pencil to paper and produce observational drawings of still life - we wonder if Gary would sit still long enough for us to create his very own portrait!
Our team in EYFS and the children can't wait to share all of our amazing experiences with you over the coming term!
Ready, set, grow .....!
