This term, children in Year 5 will be learning about a wide range of exciting topics across the curriculum.

Reading

• Exploring 'The girl who stole an elephant' by  Nizrana Farook with a focus on inference and retrieval skills.

• Reading and learning from non-fiction texts about the Ancient Greeks and Mount Everest (linking to our humanities topic)

Writing

• Developing skills in informative writing.

• Writing an informative text about Ancient Greece.

• Continuing to develop entertain skills and creating creative writing peices.

Maths

• Exploring Graphs

• Recognising, comparing, ordering, subtracting and adding fractions.

Science

• Studying the science of Evolution.

History

• Investigating Ancient Greeks,

Geography

• Learning about the physcal and human geography of Mount Everest.

PSHE

• Exploring Money and the improtance of being safe with money.

RE

• Learning about how and why people care for the enviroment.
