Maths — No Problem! Program

At the heart of our mathematics curriculum is the Maths — No Problem! program, which we use for the majority of our maths lessons. This award-winning program is recommended by the Department for Education and is used successfully in over 5,500 schools worldwide.

The program is built on the proven maths mastery methodology, combining the very best of international research with over a decade of teaching experience in UK schools. This approach ensures that every child can master an understanding and love of maths with the right kind of teaching and support.

Key Principles of Our Approach

The Maths — No Problem! program follows several important principles that make it so effective:

Exploration-Based Learning: Rather than starting with "Let me teach you," children begin each lesson with an 'explore task' where they explore a problem themselves to discover what they already know. This approach makes mathematics accessible to all pupils, allowing everyone to approach complex problems with ease, confidence and creativity

Talk-Rich Lessons: Our lessons feature structured discussions where teachers guide children to organise their findings, compare strategies, and identify the most efficient methods. Children are encouraged to explain their thinking, question each other, and build their understanding through dialogue.

Deep Understanding Over Speed: Instead of rushing through topics, we focus on depth of understanding. The programme uses carefully varied questions and examples that are easy for pupils to enter whilst still containing challenging components . This helps deepen pupils' understanding and reveal any misconceptions.

Supplementary Journalling Activities

We supplement our core programme with mathematical journalling to fill gaps, consolidate learning, and extend understanding. Journalling gives our pupils a place to practise communicating their mathematical thoughts and ideas, providing valuable insight into how children are thinking .

This approach encourages depth over acceleration, helping learners gain fluency in mathematics and develop flexible-thinking skills

Daily Practice for Fluency

To ensure our pupils develop strong foundational skills, we incorporate daily arithmetic practice and multiplication tables practice into our routine. This regular practice helps children build fluency and confidence with number facts and calculations.

Daily practice sessions are designed to be engaging and purposeful, helping children develop the automatic recall and mental agility they need to tackle more complex mathematical problems with confidence.
