No Outsiders

No Outsiders Program at Dene House Primary School: Building an Inclusive Community
At Dene House, we are proud to implement the No Outsiders program, an innovative approach to teaching equality and diversity that prepares our children for life in modern Britain. The program is designed to create an inclusive environment where every child feels valued, respected, and that they truly belong.
What is No Outsiders?
No Outsiders is an educational program with a clear vision: to promote inclusive education and community cohesion while preparing young people to thrive as global citizens. The program teaches children about the Equality Act and helps them understand and celebrate differences in our diverse society.
Through carefully selected picture books and engaging lessons, No Outsiders introduces children to various aspects of equality including different family structures, disabilities, age differences, gender identity, race, and religion - all in an age-appropriate way that encourages open discussion and understanding.
How the Program Works
The No Outsiders program is integrated throughout our curriculum in several key ways:
Picture Books: At the heart of the program are 43 carefully selected picture books that serve as discussion starters for important topics around equality and diversity.
Regular Lessons: Teachers deliver specially designed lessons using these books to explore themes of acceptance and inclusion in age-appropriate ways.
School Assemblies: We conduct regular No Outsiders assemblies that reinforce our inclusive ethos and provide consistent messaging across all year groups.
Visual Reminders: Throughout our school, you'll notice displays and symbols that remind everyone of our commitment to ensuring "no outsiders" in our community.
Parental Involvement
We believe parents and carers are essential partners in this journey. As part of our commitment to transparency:
We will share the book list and resources with all parents
We welcome your questions and feedback about the program
We provide information booklets explaining the program's approach and goals
We invite you to discuss any aspects of the program with our staff
The Impact We Hope to Achieve
By implementing No Outsiders, we aim to:
Build confident, empathetic young people who understand and respect differences
Create a school environment where every child feels they belong and can thrive
Reduce incidents of bullying and discrimination
Prepare our children with the social skills needed for life in modern Britain
Strengthen our school community by celebrating our diversity
Our goal is to nurture children who not only accept differences but celebrate them - young people who will go on to build stronger, more cohesive communities where everyone feels valued and included.
We are excited about this journey and welcome your support as we work together to ensure that in our school community, there are truly "no outsiders" - we all belong here
