Our computing education is delivered through Purple Mash, a complete computing solution used by thousands of UK primary schools. This award-winning platform provides our teachers with everything they need to deliver a rich and engaging computing curriculum, from ready-made lesson plans to interactive digital tools and activities.

Purple Mash isn't just a scheme of work—it's a comprehensive platform that includes detailed lesson plans, professional development opportunities, and integrated assessment tools. The program is designed to make technology accessible and enjoyable for all pupils, transforming lessons into exciting adventures whilst developing essential digital skills.

Four Core Areas of Learning

Our computing curriculum focuses on four essential areas, which are taught in focused blocks throughout the academic year:

  • Information Technology - Teaching pupils how to use technology effectively to create, organise and manipulate digital content

  • Computer Science - Developing computational thinking through programming, algorithms and problem-solving

  • Digital Literacy - Building skills to navigate, evaluate and create digital content confidently

  • Online Safety - Whilst this forms its own dedicated unit, online safety is embedded throughout the entire year, ensuring pupils learn to navigate the digital world responsibly and safely

Curriculum Structure

The Purple Mash scheme provides a clear progression of skills and knowledge from Early Years through to Year 6. Each year group follows carefully structured units that build upon previous learning, ensuring pupils develop their computing capabilities systematically.

The program includes comprehensive schemes of work that are fully aligned to the National Curriculum, with units covering everything from basic mouse and keyboard skills in Early Years to complex coding, spreadsheets, and 3D modelling in upper Key Stage

Supporting All Learners

One of the strengths of Purple Mash is its accessibility and differentiation capabilities. Teachers can tailor activities to provide personalised learning experiences, ensuring every child can access the curriculum at their appropriate level. The platform includes:

  • Self-marking activities that provide instant feedback

  • Interactive resources spanning core and foundation subjects

  • Built-in assessment tools to track pupil progress

  • Home access at no extra cost, enabling children to continue their learning outside school

Cross-Curricular Learning

Whilst we deliver dedicated computing lessons, the skills learnt through Purple Mash are applied across the curriculum. The platform's extensive range of creative tools allows pupils to demonstrate their learning in other subjects, from creating animations in English to using spreadsheets in mathematics.
