Equalities
Public bodies, including local-authority-maintained schools, are covered by the public sector equality duty in the Equality Act 2010.
As part of our duties we publish:
- an Equalities Information profile of our school based upon the protected characteristics of the Equality Act 2010 – this is updated and published every year
- our school’s Equality Objectives – these are reviewed annually and updated at least once every 4 years
- for further information please view or download our Equalities Policy and Equalities Information and Objectives Policy in the School Policies section of our website.
For 2025 - 2026 our current Equality Objectives are:
- To improve staffs’ subject knowledge of different religions, faiths and cultures, that are prevalent within the local community and further afield to strengthen the teaching of fundamental British Values.
-
To ensure that there is equality in who/what is studied in our curriculum; with stereotypes actively challenge through positive representation
-
To promote cultural development and understanding through a rich range of experiences both in and beyond the school
-
To ensure all pupils, regardless of gender, ethnicity disability, religious beliefs/faith tradition, age or any other of the protected characteristics achieve the highest possible standards in their learning and make strong progress relative to their starting points
-
To improve outcomes for disadvantaged pupils so that they are better than NA for this group for EXS and GDS/HS by the time pupils leave school.
-
To promote spiritual, moral, social and cultural development through all appropriate curricular opportunities, with particular reference to issues of equality and diversity
