Autumn

And so our journey begins ...

Our curriculum for the first half term is child centred with the main theme being ‘All About Me.’ We will be discussing our similarities and differences, how we are special and unique, understanding our emotions and how we feel impacts how we behave. We will then introduce ‘The Zones of Regulation’ which allows the children to develop an understanding of their emotions and how to express them. We encourage the children to develop strategies to support them when they may be struggling with their emotions. We celebrate diversity through talking about ourselves, what we look like as well as our families, hobbies, likes and dislikes.

During the second half of the term, we continue the theme of ‘All About Me’ but we branch out to talk about special festivals which we celebrate such as Bonfire night, Birthdays and Christmas. We also compare and contract these to other celebrations from around the world. We explore the theme of healthy minds and a healthy body. We talk about and explore how our bodies work and link this to how we can look after our bodies by eating healthy, staying clean and exercise. We also introduce the children to brushing their teeth in school. We look forward to sharing the beginning of our learning journey with you on Class Dojo.
