Our class novel for this term is Holes by Louis Sachar. It is about a boy named Stanley Yelnats (yes, Yelnats is Stanley spelt backwards) who has found himself in a juvenile detention centre named Camp Green Lake, where there is no lake and it isn't green. Stanley and his fellow campmates are expected to dig a hole everyday in the order to build character or so they say. Watch out for the yellow spotted lizards!
In year 6 we are using Boom Reader (an online reading record) to track the reading completed by children at home. You can add other books you are reading at home together alongside their school reading book. The expectation is that children read three times a week at home.
