Summer
Welcome back to our Summer Term!
Now the weather is getting warmer please remember to send your child into school with sun cream, a water bottle and cap/sun hat, when the sun is shining. brightly.
Please find information below regarding expectations for different subjects and homework.
PE
PE will be every Thursday. Your child should come to school dressed in PE kit which consists of:
- Blue or white t-shirt
- Navy blue or black jogging bottoms
- Blue sweatshirt (school jumper)
- trainers (any colour)
Children will take part in outdoor PE lessons as well as indoor so please ensure they are dressed appropriately.
Homework
Please listen to your child read at least 3 times a week using the book band book linked to their phonics level and the dream read book is a book for you to read to your child and enjoy together.
Please return book bags every Thursday and then these will be changed and returned to your child on the Friday.
Science
This half term children will learn all about the Seasons. Children will explore the four seasons how the weather changes and the effect this has on clothing, activities plants and trees.
Geography
We will be exploring Human Geography around the World, focusing on one country from each of the continents. Children will learn to recognise different landmarks from each country. They will also explore cultural elements from each place including food, clothing, language, housing and jobs.
History
In this first half term we will be studying Historical Figures. Learning about two inspirational women, Rosa Parks and Malala Yousafzai and how they stood up against discrimination. We will study the effect their brave actions had on changing society for the better. We will study it through a biographical text, drama and debate.
RE
This half term the children will learn about Buddhism and The Life of Buddha. They will hear some of the stories about Buddha and his actions. After half term the children will learn about Islam and some of their important festivals, their special book. and how they worship at home.
PSHE
DIVERSE BRITAIN is the topic for the first half term. How to look after our neighbourhood, What it is like to live in the Brisitish Isles, How people in the British Isles can be the same and different.
OUR BODIES is the topic for the second half term. We will learn the names for the different parts of the body and how we can look after our bodies.
