Spring 2
Another fantastic term with lots of memories made! π
During our final ‘Ready, Set, Go’ day on 5th March, parents joined in the fun and games alongside their children, which was a fantastic opportunity for everyone. They learned new games and even got to take part in being a scarecrow! π€ΉβοΈ
For art this term, we explored the artwork of Henri Matisse, particularly "the snail," during a visit to the online Tate. Afterward, we recreated our own artwork using his collage technique. We had dinosaurs, butterflies, and even snakes. π¨π¦π¦π
We have loved learning about different authors such as Julia Donaldson and different illustrators that she has worked with. Reception was blown away when they had the opportunity to meet a real author! He shared a story about a princess and led us in exploring various emotions. We even got to meet his pet turtle, which we bravely stroked. ππΈπ’
In topic and math, we have been practicing directional language. We took turns moving forwards and backwards between spots, even mastering our left and right. We had a blast mapping the school, following a map, and creating our own. We were so fantastic at mapping our school grounds that we went for a walk in our local area! We talked about what we could see on our walk and made our own maps when we got back! πΊοΈπΆβοΈ
For World Book Day, we read ‘I love you more’ and discussed all the people and things we love before year 3 came to read some stories to us. πβ€οΈ
Learning about Peterlee's history, we explored coal mining, using coal to write names and create pictures. Some of us even built coal mines and role-played working in them. βοΈπ
At Forest School this term, we had a fire and roasted marshmallows! We have recently been spotting signs of spring. π²π₯πΈ
For PE, we had the opportunity to participate in Hoop Stars! Lots of us did not know how to hula hoop before this, and afterwards, we were all superstars! πβοΈ
